Features
Disclosed as AI on every call. Recording you control.
Every greeting names her as an AI and says the call may be recorded. That line is enforced in code, and recording itself is yours to switch off.

How does Heyline handle disclosure, recording and caller privacy?
Every greeting says she's an AI and that the call may be recorded. That line is enforced in code, so it can't be edited out. Recording itself is yours to switch off per business, and transcripts stay either way. Heyline holds no HIPAA, SOC 2 or GDPR certification.
Two things get mixed up here, and the mix-up is what makes owners nervous. Disclosure is not a setting. She names herself as an AI in her first sentence on every call, including the warm "welcome back" opening a returning caller hears. Recording is a setting, on your side, and it exists only on the Growth and Scale plans.
The privacy policy is where the legal detail lives. This page is about the parts you set from your own dashboard — and the parts no plan can buy you, starting with a certification Heyline doesn't hold.
What does the disclosure sound like?
Thursday, 11:20 AM
Hi, you've reached Redbrook Electric. I'm their AI assistant — this call may be recorded. How can I help?
My panel keeps tripping. Can I put the deposit on my card right now? It's 4—
Let me stop you there — I can't take card details, so let's just get the visit booked. Friday at 10 AM is open. Can I get your name, and is 587-555-0148 the best number for you?
Priya. Yes, that's my cell. And you're really recording this?
I said so when I picked up — I'm an AI assistant, and the call may be recorded. You're booked Friday at 10 AM, Priya, and I have you at 587-555-0148.
Booked, no card details taken. The opening line is the example greeting every call carries.

Which plans record calls, and for how long?
Recording is a Growth and Scale feature, and it's set per business rather than per account — one shop can record while another doesn't. The switch decides whether there's audio to replay. Transcripts, summaries and outcome badges are kept either way, so nothing else in your call log depends on it.
| Plan | Call recording | Call history |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | No recordings on this plan | 30 days |
| Growth | On or off per business, kept 30 days | You set it, up to 365 days |
| Scale | On or off per business, you set the length up to 365 days | You set it, up to 365 days |
Recording length follows your plan, not your history setting.
How do I turn call recording off?
Three taps, and it applies to one business at a time.
Open settings for that business
Each receptionist has her own settings page. Pick the business first — the switch you're about to flip belongs to that one and to nothing else on the account.
Switch call recordings off
The card reads your choice back to you: "Recordings aren't saved — there's nothing to replay. Transcripts and summaries are kept either way."
Save settings
The next call is answered under the new setting. Her greeting doesn't change: "may be recorded" stays in it either way, which is a heads-up to the caller rather than a promise that audio exists.
What does Google-verified Calendar access mean?
Connecting your calendar asks for exactly two permissions: calendar.freebusy and calendar.events.owned. In plain words, she checks when you're busy and books into your calendar. There is no third permission to grant, and no other Google service in the request.
Google reviewed that request and approved it on August 27, 2026. Google-verified Calendar access is why the consent screen you see is the ordinary one — no unverified-app warning, and no ceiling on how many owners can connect.
The booking rules that sit on top of it — the one-hour minimum lead, the 14-day horizon, the read-back of day, time, name and callback number — are set out on the Google Calendar booking page.
The lines she won't cross
She never takes payment information. If a caller starts reading out a card number she stops them right there. No deposits, no card on file, no exception for a good customer.
She never gives medical, legal or health-safety advice. Not hedged, not "generally speaking". She declines, takes a message, and you call back.
She never answers from anything but your own notes. A policy your notes don't state is an unknown, and an unknown becomes a message — she won't guess a yes or a no on your behalf.
You can add to that list yourself. A never-say list holds up to 20 phrases she'll keep out of her mouth, and it applies from the moment you save it.
Frequently asked questions
Does she tell callers she's an AI?
Yes, on every call, in the first sentence. The greeting names her as an AI and says the call may be recorded, and the code that saves a greeting rejects any version missing either clause. Even the warm "welcome back" line a returning caller hears is added in front of that disclosure, never in place of it.
Can I turn call recording off?
Yes, per business, in that receptionist's settings. Starter has no recording at all. Growth and Scale do, and you decide whether it runs. With it off there's no audio to replay, while transcripts, summaries and outcome badges are kept either way — your call log looks the same minus the play button.
Does Heyline hold any health-privacy or security certification?
No. Heyline holds no HIPAA, SOC 2 or GDPR certification, and won't claim one it hasn't earned. She also gives no medical advice — a health question becomes a message for you. If your business handles protected health information, treat Heyline as a general phone answering tool and take the question to your own counsel.
Who is responsible for recording consent?
You are. Heyline puts the recording clause in every greeting, which is the part software can do, and gives you a switch to turn recording off. Whether your state or province wants both parties' consent is your call to make. If you're in an all-party state or in Quebec, check the rule before you switch recording on.
