Terms of Service

Plain-language terms for the free test drive, the paid plans, and the limits of an AI that answers your phone. Last updated: September 2, 2026 (draft under review).

What are you agreeing to when you use Heyline?

These terms are the agreement between you and Builts AI, which operates Heyline. They cover the free test drive, the paid plans, what your receptionist will and won't do, and who is responsible for what. Use Heyline and you accept them. This draft is under legal review.

Heyline is an AI voice receptionist for service businesses in the United States and Canada. She answers your phone in English, answers questions from the notes you give her, books appointments into your Google Calendar, and takes a message when she can't help. She is software, not a person, and her greeting says so on every call.

You need an account to keep a receptionist. You must be at least 18 years old and using Heyline for a business — Heyline isn't sold for personal or household use. One person is responsible for each account: keep your sign-in details private, and treat everything done under your account as yours.

What does the free test drive cover?

Building a receptionist is free. Paste your website address, wait about sixty seconds, and talk to her in your browser — no account, no card, no phone number. You can change what she knows and test her again as often as you want, still free.

Free test calls are limited in number and in length, and those limits can change. In the browser she only pretends to book: she'll tell you she's penciled you in, and nothing reaches a calendar until you connect one. Don't work around the free limits with extra browsers, extra addresses or scripts — that's the fastest way to lose a free session.

Nothing about the test drive commits you to buying. Going live is a separate decision that needs a plan, a card, a dedicated number, and either publishing that number or forwarding your missed calls to it.

What do you agree to when you go live?

Going live starts a trial on the plan you pick. These are the money terms.

TermWhat it means
Trial14 days free on your chosen plan. Card required, 60 minutes included, converts unless you cancel.
Plans$99/mo Starter, $199/mo Growth, $499/mo Scale. One subscription per account; Growth and Scale pool minutes.
Top-upsEmail alert at 80% of your minutes. At 100%, $10 buys 20 more automatically, as needed.
Spend capSet a monthly cap on top-ups; none is set for you. At the cap the line pauses, with a short unbilled notice.
Changing plansMove up or down any time; the difference is prorated to the day.
Annual plansTwelve months up front at two months off. It renews automatically at the same price unless you cancel before it renews.
CancellationCancel in the billing portal any time. She answers to the end of the period you've paid for.
RefundsPayments aren't refundable except where the law requires it. Removing a receptionist mid-period refunds nothing; used minutes stay used.

Prices in USD. Billing runs through the billing portal in your dashboard.

What are you responsible for?

Heyline gives your receptionist her words. The business behind her is yours, and so are these five things.

  • Recording consent. Her greeting says the call may be recorded, and recording is yours to switch on or off per business. Whether the consent rules where you and your callers are allow it is yours to check.
  • The AI disclosure. She names herself as an AI in every greeting. That line is enforced in code, not left to chance, and you agree not to try to remove it.
  • What's in her notes. She answers only from the Brief you give her. Your hours, services, prices and policies are as accurate as you make them, and correcting them is your job.
  • No payments by phone. She refuses card numbers by design. Don't ask callers to read one out to her, and don't use her to collect a deposit.
  • Lawful calls. No harassment, no recording where it isn't allowed, no using her to sidestep a rule your trade is held to, and no reselling her as your own.

What Heyline doesn't promise

She can be wrong. She's an AI. She can mishear a word, misread a question, or answer from out-of-date notes. Read the transcript before you act on anything that matters, and check the appointment on your calendar.

Calls can be missed. Carriers, forwarding settings, phone networks and outages sit between a caller and her, and most of them aren't ours. Heyline gives no uptime guarantee and no service-level agreement.

She doesn't do everything a person would. No transferring a caller to you, no texts, no outbound calls, no calendar but Google, English only, the US and Canada only. She never gives medical, legal or health-safety advice — she takes a message instead.

She isn't a compliance product. Heyline holds no HIPAA, SOC 2, GDPR or TCPA certification, and nothing here says your use of her meets a rule your industry is held to.

There's a cap. If something goes wrong and we owe you money, what you can recover is limited to what you paid Heyline in the twelve months before it happened.

Which law applies, and how do these terms change?

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply there. Anything we can't settle between us goes to the courts of Ontario, and we both agree to that. There's no arbitration clause here and no class-action waiver.

We'll change these terms as the product changes. When we do, the date at the top moves and the new version applies from the day it's posted. If a change affects what you pay, you'll get an email before it takes effect. If you don't want the new terms, cancel before the change lands.

Anything about call records, transcripts and your Google Calendar access lives in the privacy policy, not here. Removing a receptionist is permanent — there's no undo — and it releases that number and frees the plan slot right away. An account always keeps one receptionist, so closing an account is a request you send us.

Questions about these terms, and account closures, go through contact.
